Understanding the Fee Structure of JOSAA Counselling: A Comprehensive Guide

Introduction:

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) is a government organization responsible for conducting centralized counseling for admissions to various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating institutions. Along with the admission process, it is crucial for students and parents to understand the fee structure associated with JOSAA counseling. In this blog post, we will provide you with a detailed overview of the fee structure, ensuring accurate information to help you navigate the counseling process smoothly.

1. Registration Fee:

The first step in JOSAA counseling is the registration process, which requires candidates to pay a non-refundable registration fee. The fee amount is as follows:

- General/OBC category: Rs. 1,500

- SC/ST/PwD category: Rs. 750

2. Seat Acceptance Fee:

After the seat allocation process, candidates are required to accept the allotted seat by paying a seat acceptance fee. This fee confirms their willingness to participate in further rounds of counseling. The seat acceptance fee is as follows:

  • General/OBC category: Rs. 35,000

  • SC/ST/PwD category: Rs. 15,000

3. Institute Fee:

After the provisional admission fee payment, candidates need to pay the institute fee directly to the allotted institute during the admission process. The institute fee is different for each institution and can vary depending on factors such as the type of institute and course. It is advisable to visit the official websites of respective institutes to find accurate information regarding the institute fee.

4. Refund Policy:

In case a candidate decides to withdraw from the counseling process, there is a provision for a fee refund. However, the refund amount depends on the stage at which the candidate withdraws. The refund policy is as follows:

  • Withdrawal before the final round of seat allocation: Seat acceptance fee minus Rs. 1,000

  • Withdrawal after the final round of seat allocation: No refund
